Here at Bristol Adventurers’ Guild we have a wonderful team of Game Masters who are ready to weave exciting stories for you! In this blog post we’ll meet and find out a little bit more about each of them.

First up, it’s our fearless leader and founder of Bristol Adventurers’ Guild, Jamie!

- How long have you been playing Tabletop Roleplaying Games and how did you start playing?

I started running games for a small group of friends about 15 years ago. Before that I was always into tabletop games like Warhammer.

- What’s your favourite thing about TTRPGs?

Getting together with friends, and not worrying about what is going on out in the wider world.

- How would you describe your style of running D&D games?

Hectic. All about those fun, silly and heroic moments.

- What’s your favourite Class and/or Species to play?

I almost always play a half elf druid, love some animal companions! I must also confess to enjoying Paladins though. Sometimes it's nice to be the good guy!

- What’s your best piece of advice for someone who is new to playing D&D?

Give it a try! No one knows what to expect the first time they play, and everyone will make you feel welcome.

Next up it’s the colourful queen, Sophie!

- How long have you been playing Tabletop Roleplaying Games and how did you start playing?

I’ve been playing role playing games for over 10 years now, and my first time was a Live Action Role Playing Game (LARP) that my friend ran for his birthday one year. So that meant we all dressed up as our characters and acted out every part of the game in real life! It was a lot of fun and definitely got me hooked on role playing games.

- What’s your favourite thing about TTRPGs?

My favourite thing about role playing games is telling a story together, I love exploring our characters’ personalities and motivations, and seeing them grow and develop as we play.

- How would you describe your style of running D&D games?

I would describe my style as very light-hearted, I definitely lean into the silly side of things that you can do in a role playing game!

- What’s your favourite Class and/or Species to play?

I love all of the animal based species like Tabaxi, Aarakocra, Harengon and so on. I just find it really fun to play a humanoid version of an animal that I know and love, and try to incorporate some of that animal's mannerisms in the way that I play them.

- What’s your best piece of advice for someone who is new to playing D&D?

My best piece of advice for someone new to playing D&D is to relax, and remember that you don’t have to always do the most chaotic thing you can think of in order to have fun!

And last, but by no means least, it’s the lovely Louise!

- How long have you been playing Tabletop Roleplaying Games and how did you start playing?

I’ve been playing TTRPGs since Covid. After not being able to face another online pub quiz, trying out D&D was a breath of fresh air, since then I’ve explored other TTRPGs and it’s stuck with me ever since!

- What’s your favourite thing about TTRPGs?

I love seeing friendships develop between people and between their characters!

- How would you describe your style of running D&D games?

I'm just telling the story, it’s your world!

- What’s your favourite Class and/or Species to play?

I love playing tanks, Goliaths and half orcs, but I also love playing gnomes and halflings and the fun they bring to the table.

- What’s your best piece of advice for someone who is new to playing D&D?

These worlds can be a home away from home - my best piece of advice is jump straight in and just give it a go!

Now that you’ve met the team we would be delighted to have you join a game with one of us, whether that’s a one-off or an ongoing campaign. Just drop us an email to info@bristoladventurersguild.co.uk and we’ll take it from there.
